This test requires a patient to wear a few electrode stickers for a 24 hour period to determine their heart rhythm.

 

The tape is then downloaded and every single heart beat analysed for speed, rhythm and presence of abnormal beats.

 

It is very helpful in patients who experience palpitations and fainting in order to establish whether further cardiac management is needed such as drug therapy or implantation of a pacemaker.
