This test is undertaken to determine if a patient has narrowed or blocked coronary arteries. It involves applying electrodes to the patients chest and undertaking some kind of physical exercise.

 

This could be walking on a treadmill or less commonly pedalling on an exercycle to make your heart work harder.

 

There are very few patients of any age who can not complete the exercise test which provides relevant information about the state of their heart. The time of the treadmill or bike is usually between 5-14 minutes.
